Government announces pothole repair funding
An additional £100 million is to be assigned to pothole repairs in England.
Touring caravan insurance customers may be pleased to hear that the government has assigned additional funds to help repair potholes.
Transport secretary Philip Hammond announced that more than £100 million is to be given to councils in England in a bid to improve road maintenance.
He explained that despite the "tough financial position" the government is in, it is vital many surfaces get the "much-needed repairs".
It was suggested that the poor weather over the last few months has left many roads in a bad condition.
"This money should make a real difference to the millions of drivers who are fed up with having to continually battle against dangerous potholes," Mr Hammond commented.
Savings made by the department earlier in the financial year have made room for the additional funding to be added to the £831 million already provided.
According to Potholes.co.uk, if local authorities in England were given the money needed to fix their roads, it would take 11 years to catch up with the current backlog.
