Please Note
Important Notice for Converted Vehicles.
The conversion must be completed within 120 days from the inception of the policy.
If the conversion is not completed within this time or the photographs do not meet
the Underwriters criteria, the policy will be cancelled & a 20% charge will apply.
On completion you must return with your completed proposal form 4 photographs of
the conversion 2 interior and 2 exterior, the exterior photographs must include
your registration number.
Please note that if your conversion is complete you will need to supply us with
a purchase receipt from the dealer in the event of a total loss along with your
own photographs to prove you have the specified criteria.
If you have bought your vehicle privately and you do not have an official receipt
for the vehicle it is very important that photographs are forwarded to us as soon
as possible as the insurance company will have nothing to base the value on should
you have a claim.
Any vehicle that is in the process of being converted should be insured at the purchase
price until the conversion is complete, you would then be required to let us know
what the new value would be and provide conversion receipts. An additional premium
may be required and your excess may increase depending on the new value.
"...Having had difficulty in trying to insure the ambulance which I am converting,
I telephoned Shield. The young lady was most efficient and said there was no difficulty
and arranged it on the spot for Comprehensive cover in the sum of £271 including
a 60% NCD plus a further 10% for membership of the Self-Build Motor Caravanner's
Club. The Club membership fee was more than covered on my first day!!"
