Motorhome and motor caravanning magazines
You have bought your motorhome, received a great deal on your motorhome insurance from Shield, now you want to catch up on the latest news in the world of motorhoming. Here are some suggestions of the more popular motorhome magazines in the UK today.
Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly (MMM) magazine
Affectionately know as “MMM” (or even “the three Ms”) by its loyal readers, Britain’s leading motorhome publication is approaching its 50th birthday, having already achieved near institutional status. Its central theme has always been the same: written by motorcaravanners for motorcaravanners.
It packs great reading and value into its 300-plus pages each month, covering aspirational travel, road tests, and handy hints and tips to get more from your hobby.
Editor Daniel Attwood took over the helm at the end of 2010, heading up a team of highly experienced team of experts that extends to travel consultants offering key advice to anyone considering travel to the far corners of the globe.
Daniel says: “With around 20,000 subscribers, it has as much of a ‘club’ feel as a consumer magazine, and its position in the market has been relatively unchallenged over the years.”
If you’re looking for a secondhand bargain, do note MMM also carries the biggest classified advertising section of privately owned , while its its online sister Out and About live offers updated news reviews, a fantastic archive of used road tests and over 3000 park reviews…..and is well worth a look…..
Daniel adds: “In addition to the printed magazine, we now email free e-newsletters with exclusive news, interviews and competitions every fortnight, and we are also continually improving our website www.outandaboutlive.co.uk by adding benefits like an expanded campsite finder, and we are planning to launch a digital version of MMM that motorhomers can download as soon as it goes on sale wherever they are in the world.”
Practical Motorhome magazine
Britain’s second favourite magazine for motorcaravanners, but still a relative newcomer. Practical Motorhome magazine celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2011, and currently publishes 13 issues a year
Editor Rob Ganley says: “We are the first choice for newcomers to the hobby. In our magazine and on our website, which we relaunched at the end of 2010, we deliver inspirational lifestyle content and authoritative buying advice that has attracted a new audience to the market, who love our outstanding photography and spirit-of-adventure outlook.”
He adds: “Practical Motorhome makes the experience of buying and owning a motorhome look as fabulous and fun as we all know it to be. We also offer practical, real-life advice from real motorcaravanners on all aspects of motorcaravanning: travel, buying and owning, and DIY.”
Which Motorhome magazine
Sister title to MMM (above), Which Motorhome is edited by motorhome expert and aficionado Peter Vaughan, and is predominantly aimed at new and used motorhome buyers offering more content related to tests, buying, running cost than any other motorhome magazine.
Peter says: “Which Motorhome has been providing expert advice to motorhome buyers since 1986. It covers both the new and pre-owned markets but consistently aims to publish the first news and first tests of important new models in the industry. But the magazine doesn’t just have the most comprehensive vehicle coverage, Essential Guides review tourist attractions and campsites, while special features examine the likes of insurance.”
Motorhome Monthly magazine
Uniquely, Motorhome Monthly is free. Look out for it at motorhome dealerships as well as selected other retail outlets, it covers everything that is new coming on to the market including new motorhomes and approved product content.
Bob Griffiths is the owner and editor of Motorhome Monthly. He says: “This is the only specialist magazine that promotes the use of these fascinating vehicles to the general public by being given away free through an exclusive agreement with the major superstores throughout the UK.
“In addition, bulk copies are also given free of charge to all motorcaravanners group secretaries, all the Camping and Caravanning Club’s motor caravan sections and motorhome dealers throughout the UK.”
Bob’s company also started the large outdoor motorhome shows and continues organising four a year including the largest one in Europe at Shepton Mallet, Somerset in September.
