My Cool Campervan - new book launch
Motorhome insurance customers keen to keep the shelves stocked with stylish books dedicated to their favourite holiday pastime will be pleased to hear that the team behind last year’s phenomenally successful ‘My Cool Caravan’ has launched a follow up.
‘My Cool Campervan’ follows in the footsteps of its sister title by beautifully capturing the renaissance of 34 motorhomes and campervans once destined for the scrap heap.
Stylish photographs are accompanied by heartfelt text recounting the loving restoration of motorhomes and campervans from different eras and manufacturers.
It’s a fascinating read for anyone who appreciates the freedom that motorcaravanning offers but will especially appeal to lovers of vintage and retro products and those who fancy a road trip down nostalgia lane.
Whilst the VW Campervan has always dominated the retro motorhoming scene, this book is evidence that with a little imagination and a lot of enthusiasm vehicles from every era and price point can be given a new and stylish lease of life.
My Cool Campervan - an inspiration
‘My Cool Campervan’ will inspire a whole new legion of motorhome and campervan fans, from freedom seekers to lovers of inspired design just as its sister title did.
‘My Cool Caravan’ featured the restoration projects of 40 individuals inspired to give a new lease of life to their touring caravans. The book has been credited as the catalyst for a new generation of caravan lovers of all ages and opened the possibility to caravans being used as home offices, businesses, play houses and works of art as well as a means of escape from the daily grind.
Both books were compiled by Jane Field-Lewis, a London based stylist and owner of a 1970 retromodern styled caravan, and Chris Haddon, a brand development and web designer with a passion for retro caravanning and his 1970’s Airstream.
The team has extended their passion for retro caravanning to a short film, which is available for viewing on You Tube. It guest stars ‘Cuthbert’ a stunning 1958 Bedford CA Dormobile in striking white and blue. The short film features a delightfully summery soundtrack and shows a group of friends packing up and hitting the road to enjoy a picnic - everything that is great about motorcaravanning!
If you own or are interested in vintage caravans or motorhomes and would like to meet people with as similar enthusiasm why not consider joining The Period & Classic Caravan Club? They stage a number of events throughout the year and its members are a great source of advice and inspiration if you are embarking on your own project.
