Guide to buying a used touring caravan

Used tourers can offer a great introduction into the world of caravanning. Choose carefully and you will have one of the best investment holidays that money can buy!

State of the used market

Looking at new models is fine for those with the cash, who will use the caravan to the full.

There is no getting away from recession, but the last 12 months has seen a big surge in caravan sales and used units in particular. Budget-conscious buyers have seen the touring caravan as a way of making the most out of their hard-earned cash. Holidays are not seen purely as an annual event, but also weekends too and of course Bank Holidays. Great news then for the caravan trade, but the demand has also taken its toll on caravans left on the used caravan forecourts.

Buying a used tourer has indeed become more difficult as first-time buyers face depleted stocks at dealers. Those who can afford to buy new also soon faced a problem on some popular models - longer delivery dates as manufacturers had seen demand rise beyond their expectations. With production levels not being able to cope after a cut back this has also seen pressure put upon the used market as buyers search out nearly new used stock. However search and choose carefully and you will heighten your experience of owning your own passport to freedom holidays.
