Owning the Crusader Deluxe
What you must remember is this; the Crusader is a folder which does have both its limitations and also its advantages over a touring caravan. Firstly the obvious advantages are the ease of towing and storage. The Crusader will fit in 99% of driveways and also most domestic garages will prove ideal for storage. In these times of smaller cars being purchased due to running expenses, the Crusader comes into its own again. With an all up weight of 1000kg it gives most small car owners the opportunity to own one without changing the car.
Towing the Crusader should also prove an easy exercise with no major things to worry about such as height restrictions and sidewinds on open stretches of road. It’s also a stylish unit. We liked the quality of the exterior and the way in which the silver finished moulded front and back panels look so well designed. Alloy wheels and stabiliser are all other bits that would have been unheard of on a folding unit such as this. An Al-Ko chassis is used so ensuring sturdy undergear for the Crusader.
Isabella are so well known for quality that as soon as you see the label on the side of the erected Crusader it’s a sign that the company use quality suppliers. The Reads staff erected the unit in around ten minutes but told me that this would be cut down once you got to grips with the operation. Inside the spacious interior will sell it to many and the quality of the furniture too all looks good. No flimsy drawers just a solid feel. We liked the kitchen and its useful cupboard storage and oven.
The Deluxe also has the added wrap-around seating which we feel is really a good feature allowing family comfort at mealtimes. The beds will prove comfortable and the Crusader does make a great compromise between a caravan and folding tent trailer. It’s not cheap to buy, but re-sale values hold well and at present the factory is struggling to keep up with demand. If you’re after the outdoor lifestyle and freedom holidays, yet don’t want a caravan or trailer tent, then the Crusader is a clear choice for many. Impressive build, spec, ease of use and storage gives this folding camper a clear advantage. It may be all you ever need and for £1250 extra, an awning (again Isabella branded) can double the size of the already impressive living space.
