Crusader Deluxe - living with it

The Crusader is a spacious unit, offering plenty of living space for a family. The two end bedrooms offer double beds, the front end being king-sized. The mattresses offer the occupants a comfortable bed so ensuring a good night’s sleep. This leaves the centre of the Crusader as an open lounge area and kitchen. However the dinette area could serve as two single beds too if needed but we reckon most families will be made up of four persons making the Crusader ideal.

For those who like to take plenty of clothes with them, the wardrobe by the entrance door could prove tight. It’s small and would prove a very tight squeeze to hang clothes in, plus the fridge is fitted into the base of the wardrobe to so that means hanging drop is restricted. It’s here we also must just add that the fridge is compact and it would mean that you may need to take a coolbox along too if you’re wanting to stock up for the week with cool supplies. The fridge will work on gas, 12V and of course mains supply so there isn’t any compromise in power source.

Still with storage; the wardrobe being small means the Crusader does have a large side dresser complete with cupboard and drawer unit which is ideal for extra clothing and also to pop a TV onto as the TV aerial point is a standard fit. The kitchen opposite comes with Spinflo oven and three burner-hob complete with spark ignition. Sink unit is stainless steel with drainer and is supplied with both hot and cold water. The kitchen offers good storage for crockery etc. Above the unit shelves only are fitted so the storage you need is facilitated by the kitchen cupboards under the sink unit. It’s here that the electric heater is placed which should keep the unit warm on colder summer evenings.

Table in place ready for meal times.

The dinette area in the Deluxe version of the Crusader comes with full wrap-around seating which replaces a small clip-on table on the base model. It works well and the feeling of comfort is enhanced with the quality sprung seating and scatter cushions. For meal times a free-standing table is supplied: a good sturdy unit which doesn’t seem very heavy either. Pop this into place and the family can enjoy a meal together in comfort.

A plug socket is fitted in the seat base by the kitchen unit, the other mains socket with 12V socket is fitted on the side of the dresser unit. You could have extra mains plugs fitted if you need them and we reckon that three wouldn’t have gone amiss. Lighting in this area is restricted to a strip lamp by the side of the kitchen and another by the wardrobe. A free-standing lamp would probably be needed to add that extra reading light that most users would need. On the dinette, the two seat bases have small floor-level LED lights fitted which will help light up the floor area at night without disturbing others.

The Crusader Deluxe comes with a washroom which although it has hot water and a shower head - doesn’t have a shower tray. Fitted in the washroom is an electric flush cassette loo and a tip-up wash basin with moulded shelves plus a mirror above but generally no storage. It is spacious though, so using it to wash in won’t be hard work as in some rigid caravans.
