Bailey Caravans Buyer’s Guide

Despite all the newcomers that have arrived at the caravan manufacturers’ table over the last few years, that familiar ‘Bailey’ logo remains prevalent across camping sites up and down the country.

Now in its seventh decade, this stalwart of the UK caravan industry has plenty to offer caravanners - from entry level models through to true home-from-home luxury. So should your next caravan be a Bailey of Bristol model? Here’s a closer look at what the company currently has to offer…

The Pursuit range

With prices ranging from just over £13,000 for a two-berth model up to £15,000 for five berths, the Pursuit range is designed to make touring as accessible as possible.

As well as being budget-friendly, the lightweight build of these caravans means that buying your first tourer need not necessarily mean exchanging your current car for a bigger model. As an illustration, the two-berth Pursuit 400-2 has an MTPLM of 1090kg (making it a feasible option with a wide range of smaller family vehicles), while the 560-5 is one of the lightest five-berth family tourers on the market, with an MTPLM of 1441kg. Go for the optional ‘Premium Pack’, and you also get an AL-KO AKS 3004 Stabiliser to help make towing easier.

Key features

Kitchen

Each caravan in the Pursuit range comes with a Thetford three-burner hob, combination oven and grill and 103-litre refrigerator. A microwave oven is included in the Premium Pack.

Shower and washroom

A Thetford C-260 cassette toilet and dedicated shower room is featured in all Pursuit models.

Lounge and sleeping

Heki roof lights feature right through the main habitation area. The standard ‘Spice’ soft furnishings can be upgraded to optional Amaro fittings for a more luxurious touch. All models come with a generous allowance of storage cabinet space.

The Pegasus range

The Pegasus range contains a selection of five well-equipped tourers ranging from two to five berths, suitable for medium to large towing vehicles. If one of your priorities is to have has much room as possible for a larger family, the Pegasus Palermo deserves special attention; at 7.92m, this is the longest caravan across Bailey’s entire range and is the UK’s only twin-axle five-berth.

Prices range from £17,169 to £19,999.

Key features

Kitchen

The Pegasus models offer a step up from the entry-level Pursuit range, both in terms of spec and living space. With the larger models for instance, you get a generous 133-litre tower refrigerator unit, while kitchen working surfaces are prioritised across the range.

Shower and washroom

Each model comes with a large, fully lined shower cubicle with bi-fold door.

Lounge and sleeping

Inset LED lighting in the ceiling helps to give these tourers a luxurious ambiance, while ‘Dream Sleep’ mattresses available on the larger models aim to replicate the level of comfort you would expect from a pocket-sprung mattress. For an extra £250, you can opt for an ‘iNet’ box, allowing you to control the fan and heating temperature, and water temperature from your phone via Bluetooth.

The Unicorn range

Across seven different tourers from two to four berths, the Unicorn range contains Bailey’s highest spec caravans. With prices ranging from £20,400 to just under £24,000 (excluding optional extras), these models are geared towards couples and smaller families looking to invest for higher levels of comfort.

Key features

Kitchen

An “Italian stone” finish across the worktops provides a luxurious touch. The fridge freezer is a particular highlight; the larger twin-axle models come with a 190-litre tower unit, featuring four shelves in the main fridge unit and a further four shelves in the door. A stainless steel microwave oven comes as standard - along with a Thetford combined oven, grill and hob.

Shower and washroom

A fully lined shower cubicle comes with a domestic style door.

Lounge and sleeping

Alde programmable central heating provides fuel-efficient, easy to control warmth throughout the caravan. Leatherette skylight surrounds and generous ambient and task lighting as well as premium quality chrome fixtures and fittings provide a real sense of luxury.
