About the armadillo...

The 'dillo was born in 2004 - when advertising agency, The Dairy, presented him as the perfect symbol of Insurance protection - after all, he comes with built-in cover! However, he wasn't revealed to the public for another 6 years. Company changes meant that new marketing activity was put on hold, and it wasn't until that jumped-up meerkat began to take the insurance market by storm, that we at Shield remembered our own lovable (and might we say much more relevant!) mammal, still hiding under the desk!

In recent years, the 'dillo has been seen marvelling at the ups and downs of the leisure market. As our colourful 'disaster scenarios' demonstrate, anything can happen in the great outdoors, yet there's no cause for concern when, like the armadillo, you take cover!

The 'dillo remains something of an enigma. his Twitter posts tell us that his mother (Dillys) was raised in Texas and came to the UK as part of a travelling zoo. So, our dillo is English through and through - as his peculiarly British turn of phrase suggests...

Unmarried and unruffled, he is content in his own carapace. The 'dillo remains unconcerned however extreme the circumstances, though exists in a constant state of amazement at the rash behaviour of (uninsured) humans...

He has no need to hurry. No need to worry. He's perfectly protected...

take cover...armadillos do!
