Motorhome insurance customers planning to take a break on the continent this summer have been advised to buy fuel before leaving the UK.
According to Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, it is important to consider this.
"For instance, in the UK, unleaded fuel is a relatively good price in relation to Europe, so you are probably better off filling up before you leave the country," she explained.
Holidaymakers should also consider buying their foreign currency in advance, particularly if they are heading somewhere such as rural France.
Ms Munro noted that many small shops and petrol stations do not accept credit cards, so it is important to carry some cash with you at all times.
Speaking recently, CaxtonFX currency analyst Duncan Higgins said eurozone destinations such as Spain and France are likely to be popular with British families this year due to the pound having gained strength against the euro.
