Caravan insurance customers planning to travel to Ireland or Europe this summer have been offered some debit and credit card advice.
The UK Cards Association has joined forces with ABTA - The Travel Association to publish a new guide on paying with plastic safely when abroad.
Entitled Using Your Card Overseas, it advises holidaymakers to leave at home any cards they do not intend to use during their holiday.
Other tips include making sure that your financial provider has up-to-date contact details for you and never letting your card out of sight.
"Although card spending abroad was down slightly last year - no doubt due to the economic downturn - their use has grown almost threefold over the past decade," said Melanie Johnson, chair of the UK Cards Association.
A recent Adfero street poll found that 56 per cent of people are planning to take a holiday this summer.
